All bookings with the hotel will be billed and debited by July 18th 2010.  This is because ALL bookings and new reservations are subject to an increased room rate after JULY 31st.  The hotel and RT have a cancelletion policy in place if you have to cancel your booking / event registration.  CANCELLATION POLICY

What about bringing in Food / Drink for Nations Night?

There are restrictions on importing food / drink - see UAE Government website for details. BUT most food and drink can be purchased on your behalf by the hotel at a minimal profit margin for the hotel. There will be a cut-off date by when you have to have ordered your food and drink. Plastic shot glasses can also be purchased by the hotel.

What about dress regulations?

You need to always remember that you are visiting a Muslim country and that there is a standard of acceptable dress (or undress!). YES, the UAE is a Muslim country. And, YES, you should respect the local religion at all times. HOWEVER, Dubai is probably the most lenient destination in the Middle East when it comes to rules and regulation on many issues, including dress. The locals here are used to having expatriates around and have become more or less accustomed to their ways. The weather is hot for most of the year and it’s quite acceptable to leave your house wearing shorts and a sleeveless top. Swimsuits and even bikinis are fine as long as you’re at the beach or by the swimming pool. On the other hand, going to the mall with short shorts or sun bathing topless on the beach is a definite no-no.
Details are available on the UAE Government website and www.rti2010.info . Once you have registered an email covering this will be sent.

What about appropriate behaviour?

As above, you will be visiting a Muslim country and you will need to abide by the laws of the UAE. Details of these are available on the UAE Government website and www.rti2010.info . Once you have registered an email covering this will be sent.

What is Nations Night?

You are expected to represent you Country by displaying food and drink from your Nation.  To truely represent your Nation it is recommended that you decorate your table with country and association flags and try to wear National Dress if possible.  There is a Nations Night form that you can download in order to request help in sourcing equipment, food and drink in the UAE to avoid you having to carry it here.

Who is richard Miles RTI2010WM Convenor?

Richard ( that's me!) has been a member of RT since 1988, joining RT Newport 420.  I left Newport 420 RTBI in 1997 to join Doha RT in 1997.   I then left Doha #4 in 1999 to join Dubai #1.  I have been Chairman of Newport 420, Doha 4 and Dubai 1 as well as Honorary President of Dubai Creek #11.  I have also been RTBI Area 1 Secretary and Press officer.  I have been the President of Round Table Arabian Gulf ( RTAG) twice and am presently Vice Chairman of Dubai #1 and of course the Convenor of RTI2010WM.  If you have seen a Round Tabler proudly representing the Arabian Tables by dressing as an arab...that's me :-)  Normally at ARTSA, RTBI or a world meeting (Cyprus, Thailand, Holland).  I can hold my head high and say "I have lived Round Table and made a Difference".  This conference is confirming my belief that you get out of Table what you put in and is the most fantastic event I have ever been involved in organising..I am and always have been PROUD to be a TABLER.
